These volunteers organize and present the daily opening and closing assemblies during camp. Many campers are very nervous and/or shy at the beginning of camp. This volunteer helps set the mood for camp and make the campers more comfortable and psyched for the week. Maybe you know some fun getting-to-know-you activities? Maybe you are a comedian who can help people laugh their nerves away? Fresh ideas, skits, and costumes encouraged!
The Assembly Leader is also responsible for going over the logistics, mission, and Code of Conduct for all the campers on the first day of Camp. As a very visible member of the volunteer crew and the Assembly Leader may be asked to help direct campers in the case of emergency.
Assembly Leaders must be articulate, outgoing, and have a fun camp counselor stage presence. It is important to be able to hold and direct the attention of the whole group of campers and involve volunteers and interns in activities.
Time Commitment: One of the Saturday volunteer orientation sessions prior to your week of camp, Monday 8:00am-10:00am and 4:30-5:00pm, Tuesday-Friday 8:30-9:30am and 4:30-5:30pm. Showcase 11:30-4:00pm (optional).
This position combines well with Band Coaches, Band Managers, Lone Wolf, Mental Health Counselor, Workshop Leaders and more!
