Band coaches are assigned to work with one or two bands of girls ages 8-16 during the week. Coaches are tasked with helping campers through the collaborative process of writing their very own song for the Showcase!
Band Coaches team up with Band Managers to help guide potential bandmates together during band formation on the first day of Camp. Coaches then attend the group’s practice throughout the week and help campers as they develop their instrument parts and work together!
Coaching tasks may range from helping the band learn how to play as a group both musically and interpersonally, troubleshooting gear set up, guiding the bandmates through collaboration and compromise, and assisting campers as they create their parts for the song.
Coaching two bands entails working with each group back to back during their practice times with a short break in between.
Coaches must have basic knowledge of songwriting and some experience with one or more of the instruments offered at Camp. Experience playing music with others, at Camp or elsewhere, is a plus.
Time commitment: Volunteer orientation prior to your session, Monday 1:30pm-5:00pm, Tuesday-Thursday 1:00pm-4:00pm, Friday 9:30am-4:00pm Showcase 11:00am-5:30pm (Mandatory). Optimal break times will be discussed at orientation.
This position combines well with Instrument Instructor or certain AM Support Positions for a full day of volunteering.
