The Cover Show, BERT, and the end of Sponsor a Camper
THANK YOU to everyone who helped to make May such a successful month in Girls Rock Rochester history!
Our 2nd cover show at the Bug Jar on the 16th had a great crowd turnout. We have a great community of supporters here in Rochester (and even a few friends who made it from out of town to play). We raised over $700 toward our Sponsor A Camper campaign – about 15% of our total goal for the entire campaign in just one night.
We want to reiterate how awesome every band that played was. A big thanks go to The Ginger Faye Bakers, Angstea, Sulk, and Pony Hand and all of our staff and friends who performed. We couldn’t have done this without any of you!
When we said our BERT live art auction at 1975 was something you’d have to experience in order to believe, we felt pretty confident.
The truth is, we had an idea of what to expect and the reality blew it out of the water. Everyone involved in this event made our dreams come to life. From the artists who generously donated work, to the people who showed up, the people who bought art (and even those who got outbid), our volunteer security team and our fantastic auctioneer Derek, to Hype Booth and Sweetly Spun for offering their time and services, to Hello Arepa for spending the night with us and keeping us fed, and to Wegman’s for some financial support. And of course, thanks ESPECIALLY to Erich Lehmann at 1975 who made this a reality for us. Erich is a gracious host and an excellent promoter. You can find more photos from the BERT on Facebook!
We didn’t announce it but the BERT marked the official close of our Sponsor a Camper campaign. You should all know that you raised $3,100 to cover financial aid for our campers. That number is over half of our $5,000 campaign goal.
Between the BERT, cover show, and donations made to the campaign, we have surpassed $5,000 and we will be giving financial aid to every camper that requested it this year!
If you have photo or video footage of any events that you’d like to share, email firstname.lastname@example.org . We’d love to see them!
