Children ages 5–7 will explore musical instruments, learn about songwriting, and work on fun art projects.
New campers ages 8–16 will get the chance to see what GR!R is all about! They'll try out different instruments, learn how to write a song, and attend cool workshops.
Experienced campers ages 10–16 will form a band, write a song, record a demo, and make a music video. Of course, they'll also attend workshops throughout the week.

The camp "tuition" varies year to year depending on the results of our fundraising events. As an organization that is 100% donation-funded, we attempt to keep our recommended fee low and offer a sliding scale to our applicants. The 2021 recommended camp fee is $175 per attendee. With our sliding scale tuition, each family is able to determine how much they are able to contribute to our program. We do not want tuition costs to deter anyone from applying to camp.
GR!R will be following the CDC guidelines for Summer Camps: Campers, Staff and Volunteers will be required to wear face masks at all times, except for outdoor water and snack breaks. We will maintain 6 feet social distancing in the camp space, and campers will not share supplies with other campers. We will also be practicing hand hygiene regularly and conduct health screenings before the start of each session. More details around our COVID-19 procedures can be found in our Camper Application.
Please note, if your camper is able to play their instrument without guided lessons then they are welcome to sign up for the Band Factory weeks. If your camper is unsure of how to play their instrument, they should choose the Amplify weeks. All campers under the age of 8, only qualify for the jumpstart program.
To register for camp, you’ll fill out an online application. Applications are open from May 1st through May 31st.
Campers are selected by a committee seeking to establish a balanced and diverse camp population in relation to the instrument, age, previous musical experience, economic status, geography, and community. Campers are NOT selected on a first-come, first-serve basis, and applying for camp does not guarantee admission. Your family's ability to pay will not affect your child's chance of admission to camp. GR!R strives to make camp accessible and available to all but due to space and resource limitations, we cannot accept all applicants. Traditionally, some applicants may be placed on a waitlist and notified of acceptance when space becomes available.
GR!R's goal is to have the registration process as inclusive and as fair as possible. Many factors are considered in this process. Final notifications about acceptance will be given by June 5th.
Thank you for your interest in GR!R's camp programs! Registration for GR!R programs (Girls Rock Camp and Pride Rock Camp) typically opens in April. If you have any questions about camper registration, please do not hesitate to contact our Program Director at kaci@girlsrockrochester.org.
Nope! Girls Rock! Rochester is open girls, LGBTQ+ Youth, regardless of race, class, sexual orientation, ethnicity, size and/or ability.
No, GR!R will provide any instrument that is needed, but if your camper prefers using their own instrument from home they are welcome to bring it.
We are called “rock camp”, but we welcome campers interested in all musical genres. Campers are encouraged to explore different styles and genres and express themselves through music.

Delivering the Camp experience requires Camp to incur numerous irreversible spending decisions many months before the summer begins. The Camp makes these irreversible spending decisions based on the number of Campers enrolled and in reliance on each Camper maintaining (i.e., not canceling) their enrollment and not leaving Camp early.
Moreover, holding a space for a Camper may result in turning away other Campers throughout the year. For these reasons, Parents acknowledge and agree to the following refund policy:
